SIT probing CRDA will function like regular police station: AP government

Hyderabad: The State Government declared on Monday that the SIT formed to investigate the CRDA irregularities, would be a regular police station, with immediate effect. In a G.O. issued, the Principal Secretary to Government Kumar Viswajit stated that the entire State would fall under the ambit of SIT, for the purpose of carrying out inquiry and investigation. This is the first of its kind in the State that has empowered SIT with such extra ordinary powers. It may be noted that the Government had assigned a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the irregularities highlighted by Cabinet Sub-Committee last Friday. The SIT will be headed by Dr Kolli Raghurami Reddy, Dig-intelligence, and 9 more police officers-Visakhapatnam SP Babujee Attada, Intelligence SP-II Ch.Venkata Appala Naidu, Kadapa Additional SP Sreenivasa Reddy, DSP( Intelligence) Jayarama Raju, DSP ( Vigilance and Enforcement) Vijaya Bhaskar, DSP ( Intelligence) M. Giridhar, Eluru Range Inspector Kennedy, Nellore District Inspector I Srinivasan, and Guntur district Inspector SV Rajasekhara Reddy will be the members of the SIT.

The SIT will enquire, register, investigate, and conclude the investigation according to the CrPC, on the subject matter, according to a G.O. issued by the Principal Secretary ( GAD- Political) Praveen Prakash. The SIT will have to function as a moral single point contact, including for sharing of information, and coordinating if necessary with the State and Central investigative agencies. The SIT would have powers to call for any person or officer in connection with the enquiry and investigation, to record their statements, as per the provisions of CrPC. The SIT can call for and examine any record pertaining to the issues and land transactions in various aspects.
