Six children drown during Ganesh Immersion in village on AP-Karnataka border

Hyderabad: Celebrations for Ganesh immersion at Maradagatta village located in Kolar district on the AP-Karnataka border turned into a tragedy after six children including three girls, all aged below 12 and belonging to four families drowned in a pond on Tuesday.

Three children accidentally fell in the lake and drowned and the other three drowned in an attempt to rescue them.

The children had come to the pond and look at the Ganesh idols, and we're playing on the bund at the time of the incident. The incident had not only left their families devastated, but left the whole village in tears.

The children are identified as Tejaswi, Rakshith, Rohith, Vaishnavi, Dhanush and Veena.
