Six members drowned in Kundu flood; Three bodies found

Kadapa: Three bodies, out of the six that drowned along with the autorickshaw in Kamanur canal of Kundu river on Monday evening, have been found. On Thursday the locals of the Adinimmayapalle area noticed three bodies stuck to the wire bushes.

According to relatives, the drowned family was confirmed as residents of Potladurthi village of Yerraguntla Mandal. Ramanjaneyulu 30, his wife Penchalamma 26, Mother Subbamma 50, Children Babu 6, Meghana 5, Anjali 4 went for a function in Duvvuru on Monday morning. Ramanjaneyulu is a professional auto driver, who bought this autorickshaw only a week ago.

They went for the function in their auto and were returning home on Monday evening. While they came closer to Kamanur, they saw that the canal was flooding heavily. On one side the Proddutur rural police were stopping passengers from crossing the flooding canal. On the other side, Ramanjaneyulu and his family tried to cross the flood with his auto, unfortunately, they all drowned.

The police tried to save them with ropes but failed. Ramanjaneyulu's relatives then approached the police and showed a picture of the family to them. The police who were on duty confirmed that it was Ramanjaneyulu and his family who had drowned in the flood. As the canal is still heavily flooding, the searching operations have been interrupted for now. Proddutur rural Police have filed a case and will continue the search for the remaining bodies.
