Srikanth Kidambi makes a stellar comeback! Starts his World Championship Campaign with a win

Basel: The World Badminton Championship began on Monday with Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth starting on a very positive note by winning the first round match of the championship.

Kidambi, who surprisingly was not off to a good start, lost the first set to Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen 17-21. However, after losing the first set, Srikanth had to make sure that he wins the next two in order to win the game.

He made a stellar comeback in the second set as he won the consecutive next two sets to wrap up the game 17-21, 21-16, 21-6.

Notably, Srikanth hasn’t won a title at the BWF World Tour in the last 22 months. It seems like this time he is trying to turn the tables around to win the men’s singles title. He will next face Israel’s Misha Zilberman.

On his victory, the BAI (Badminton Association of India) took to Twitter to congratulate the latter on his win. They wrote “Srikanth makes a comeback to win! India’s @srikidambi showed his nerves of steel as he turned the match around after losing the first game to win it 17-21, 21–16, 21-6 against Ireland’s Nguyen.N in the #BWFWorldChampionships2019 Keep the momentum going! #IndiaontheRise.”
