SVIMS to get coronavirus diagnostic kits from NIV

Tirupati: Virology Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRLD) of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati, is going to receive kits for diagnosis of the COVID-19 virus from the National Institute of Virology, Pune. The National Institute has already dispatched the kits to the SVIMS for identification of the dreaded coronavirus.

Medical Superintendent and HOD of Nephrology, Professor Ram of the SVIMS, said that they had set up a 6-bedded isolation ICU equipping it with the ventilators, monitors, personal protective equipment and others for the staff members and nurses. He said they have been maintaining stocks of medicines and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits in sufficient number. We have been expecting the diagnostic kits within a day or two. Further, Post Graduates, Interns, and Emergency Faculty Members have been oriented on the clinical features of the COVID-19 for easy diagnosis, he added.

A Taiwanese man was admitted in Ruia Hospital of Tirupati after he showed symptoms of coronavirus. He was kept under isolation. As a relief to him his test results were negative and he was discharged by the hospital.
