Hyderabad: Tabu, after a long break from Telugu movies, recently appeared in the blockbuster film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo starring Stylish Star Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde. The latest buzz is that the actor is all set to surprise the Telugu audiences with a remake of her critically-acclaimed Hindi film Andhadhun.
Tollywood star Nithin, who is currently celebrating the success of his recent film Bheeshma, will be playing the lead role in the Telugu remake. The film will be directed by Merlapaka Gandhi who has earlier directed Venkatadri Express and Express Raja. The film will be produced under Sreshth Movies banner by Nikhitha Reddy and Sudhakar Reddy.
Ever since the official announcement of the Telugu remake, there have been speculations about who would play Tabu's role. Despite reports that former television star Anusuya Bharadwaj has been roped in to play Tabu's character, the latest buzz suggests that Tabu is in talks with the producers.
Andhadhun, which was partly based on a French short film The Piano Tuner (2010), received international acclaim. It was produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Matchbox Pictures. While the total cost of the film was Rs. 32 crore, the film's final revenue was worth nearly Rs. 450 crore, including earnings from China. The film won several awards both in India and abroad.
The Telugu remake of Andhadhun was formally launched a few days ago. While the complete cast of the Telugu remake is yet to be announced, it will be interesting to see who will play the characters of Radhika Apte and Tabu.
