Tamilisai takes oath as new Guv of TS

Hyderabad: Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan took charge as Telangana Governor on Sunday. She was administered oath by Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Raghavendra Singh Chauhan at a programme held at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his Cabinet colleagues were also present.

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Union home minister of state G. Kishan Reddy and key leaders from various political parties were present.

Tamilisai, who is the first woman Governor for Telangana, after taking oath went straight to wish her parents.

After the ceremony KCR had a meeting with the new Governor and handed over the list names of the new ministers requesting her to conduct the swearing in programme at 4 pm on Sunday.

A large number of Tamilians from the twin cities attended the oath ceremony.

Ms Tamilisai reached Hyderabad around 8 am on Sunday. She was received at the Begumpet airport by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan and other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police diverted traffic on the busy Khairatabad-Somajiguda route in view of the Governor’s oath taking ceremony.
