Tank Bund closed as RTC employees gear up for Saturday protest

Hyderabad: As RTC employees and opposition parties gear up for the Chalo Tank Bund protest call given by Telangana Congress party unit, police have started their preparations to foil the protest. As a preventive measure, they have issued orders imposing restrictions at Tank Bund and in the surroundings. In other words, the area is closed for vehicular traffic on Saturday.

“The Upper Tank Bund will be closed from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday,” an official released from Hyderabad traffic police said. Meanwhile, police across the state have started preventive arrests of opposition leaders and RTC employees.

All highways on city outskirts are barricaded, and additional forces have been deployed. Police are thoroughly checking each vehicle, private or public, entering the city.

Traffic Alerts:

1. Public coming from Secunderabad towards Tank Bund should take Karbala Maidan, Kavadiguda X Road, CGO towers and Musheerabad X road.

2. Traffic coming from RTC X Road towards Indira Park should take a left or right turn at Ashok Nagar X Road.

3. Traffic coming from Telugu Talli flyover should take a right towards Iqbal Minar and Ravindra Bharati. Commuters are requested to take alternate routes.

4. Traffic coming from Iqbal Minar and going to Secunderabad shall take a left turn at Telugu Talli flyover, Necklace Rotary and Necklace Road, etc.

5. Traffic coming from Himayat Nagar Y-junction should take a left at Liberty junction towards Basheer Bagh.

6. Traffic coming from Old MLA Quarters should go straight from Basheer Bagh to PCR Junction or take a left towards BJR Statue.

7. Traffic coming from SBH Gunfoundry should go towards KLK Building route from BJR Statue.

8. Traffic coming from Khairatabad Flyover may take a right at Necklace Rotary towards Mint Compound Lane and further.

9. Police urged citizens to take other alternate routes to reach their destinations and cooperate with the traffic police, because of the protest.
