TDP leader Chintamaneni arrested amidst high drama politics  

Vijayawada: The Controversial TDP leader and Denduluru former MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar was arrested by the West Godavari police amidst high-drama in his residence at Duggirala in West Godavari district on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that a case was registered against Chintamaneni under the SC/ST Atrocities Act, for allegedly attacking one Cheraku Joseph of Pedavagi Mandal on August 30 when TDP leaders were protesting the state government’s new sand policy. Chintamaneni was detained but, later, he managed to give the police a slip. He was in hiding for 12 days and was he was finally nabbed by the police.

In the midst of high tension, Chintamaneni has appeared at his residence in Duggirala on Wednesday morning. When the police entered to Chintamaneni’s residence, the followers of the TDP leader entered heated arguments with the police and detained six women police constables.

As the situation turned tense in the TDP’s residence, the superintendent of Police, West Godavari, Navdeep Singh Grewal deployed additional forces at the residence and finally, the TDP leader was arrested

The SC, ST atrocity case has been booked against the former MLA in the attack on the Dalits in Pinakadimi village. In addition to this, the police have registered 10 cases on Chintamaneni and a total of 49 cases pending against the TDP leader.
