TDP leader Karanam Balaram all set to join CM Jagan’s YSRCP at Ongele

Hyderabad: The 73-year-old TDP leader Karanam Balaram Krishna Murthy will be joining YSRCP on Thursday in presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Balaram’s political career started with the blessings of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He had saved her from an attack in Ongole. Later, she was given Addanki assembly ticket and won the seat on Congress ticket.

Later, he was elected to Assembly thrice and in between, he was elected to Lok Sabha in 1999. In the last elections, he won Chirala assembly segment against YSRCP Candidate Amanchi Krishna Mohan. Now, Balaram has decided to shift loyalties in order to prepare the ground for his son Venkatesh.

In 2014, Pothula Suneetha of TDP defeated Balaji Yadav of YSRCP ticket and Aamanchi Krishna Mohan of Navodayam party in Chirala assembly seat.

In the later developments, Aamanchi joined TDP. In 2019 elections, Karanam Balaram won Chiral segment on TDP ticket against Amanchi Krishna Mohan of YSRCP.

With the entry of Karanam Balaram, all the three rivals including Pothula Suneetha and Aamanchi Krishna Mohan will be part of YSRCP.

It may be noted that Vallabhaneni Vamshee of Gannavaram, and Maddali Giri of Guntur, who were elected on TDP ticket, revolted against TDP and associated with YSRCP. On the same lines, now Karanam Balaram will also act as an associate of YSRCP. With this, the TDP’s strength will come down to 20, from 23 in the Assembly.
