Teddy bear as sick baby: Vizag couple booked for hoodwinking cops to bypass lockdown

Visakhapatnam : Police have registered a case against a couple for trying to hoodwink the law enforcement agencies by passing off a teddy bear as a sick baby to bypass lockdown.

The incident took place near NAD Junction in Vizag city of Andhra Pradesh. The couple had covered a teddy bear with a cloth to evade the police check posts.

When they were stopped, they told the police that they are going to the hospital as their child was not well. Cops at one check post allowed the couple, considering it as an emergency.

When the couple reached NAD Junction in Vizag city, the police questioned them for traveling during the lockdown. Though the couple claimed that they are heading towards the hospital for treatment, one of the policemen got suspicious and asked them to remove the cloth.

Police were shocked when they found that the couple had wrapped a teddy bear in a cloth. Police later registered a case and warned the couple against cheating.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the couple from Gajuwaka area in Vizag city wanted to go to the relatives’ house in Muralinagar area of Vizag city. Since the police were allowing only one person on the bike, the couple covered a teddy bear with a cloth and headed towards Muralinagar on the pretext of a medical emergency.
