Telangana allows film, TV shootings to resume; sets some guidelines

Hyderabad: In what comes as a relief for the Tollywood film industry, the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, on 8 June, gave permission to resume film and TV shooting in the state as long as they have a limited number of staff members and follow the COVID-19 guidelines and lockdown conditions.

He said post-production works can also restart and the same rules will apply. However, the state government has refused to permit film theaters to open in line with the guidelines of the Central government.

Several prominent film personalities had recently met KCR and requested him to allow film/TV shootings and post-production works and also reopen film theaters for the public. Responding to their demand, the Chief Minister on Monday asked the officials concerned to prepare the necessary guidelines for the same.

The cinematography minister, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and chief secretary Somesh Kumar met prominent film personalities and prepared the draft guidelines. The latter gave their assurance that shootings and post-production works will be carried on with a limited number of staff members and they will abide by the state's guidelines.
