Telangana: COVID cases cross 2000, death toll climbs to 63

Hyderabad: Telangana witnessed 107 new positive cases of Coronavirus in the biggest single-day jump on Wednesday.

According to the Telangana government health bulletin, the total number of positive cases stands at 2139. They include 1842 locals. 173 migrant laborers, 94 Saudi Arabia deportees, and 30 other foreign evacuees.

So far 82 foreign deportees have tested positive for COVID-9. They are being treated at Gandhi Hospital. The government of India has airlifted 458 deportees from Saudi Arabia to Telangana so far.

The government said a large number of migrants are returning from different states. “These migrants are being home quarantined and monitored by the district authorities. Symptomatic migrants are tested. Majority of the migrants are arriving from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, etc. To date, 154 migrants have tested positive for COVID-19,” the government said.

Meanwhile, the death toll has surged to 63 in the state. Around 1321 patients have been discharged so far.
