Warangal: The Jangaon police booked an administrative assistant working in the office of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) of Jangaon district for failing to disclose about his visit to the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin and he has now tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday. District Medical and Health officer Mahender Reddy said he has been shifted to the Gandhi Hospital for isolation and treatment. Three members of his family were sent to the isolation ward at the MGM hospital in Warangal and the employees of the DRDA office were home quarantined.

Jangoan police inspector D Mallesh said they received a complaint from DRDO Ram Reddy that the said employee has attended the religious congregation in Delhi without informing the office for three days. He did not even take any precautionary measures after coming back and moved in the public places and also attended duties in the office.

A case under Sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life,) and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC was booked against the official, the inspector said.

Besides the DRDA employee, another state government officer serving in the TS fisheries department was part of the religious meeting. When tested he proved negative.

Meanwhile, On April 3rd , Telangana reported 75 new COVID-19 cases , taking the tally to 229, the highest recorded on a single day. Alarmingly, the death toll increased from 9 to 11 said the statement issued by the health ministry.

However, the silver lining of the medical bulletin was, 15 COVID-19 patients were discharged on the same day, i.e Friday. In total 32 have been cured. With this, the total number of active cases stands at 186. A majority of the cases tested positive on Friday are linked to Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Delhi's Nizamuddin.
