Telangana minister says, KCR is owner of ‘Gulabi Jenda’

Hyderabad: Amidst growing speculations that health minister Etela Rajender may lose his ministerial post, Telangana minister for panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said, “TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is the only real owner of ‘Gulabi Genda’ (the TRS party flag). KCR conceptualised and designed the party flag. Anyway, the issue is over now. There’s no problem for Etela Rajender’s ministry and his position. When I was in the Telugu Desam (TD), I extended all-out support to the demand for statehood. I played a key role in convincing former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that eventually led to the TD writing to the Centre to support the Telangana state formation.” Mr Dayakar Rao on Saturday met TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan. After the meeting Mr Dayakar Rao while interacting with the media said, “There is only one boss i.e. KCR in the TRS.”

Mr Dayakar Rao was responding to Mr Rajender’s recent comment while shrugging off reports on social media about a campaign against him. Mr Rajender had said, “My ministership was not a Bhiksha (alms), but I earned it by participating in the agitation for Telangana statehood. I won six times as MLA. I didn’t fight for any caste or community in my public life so far. I always fought for Telangana statehood and Telangana self-respect. We’re the owners of Gulabi Jenda.”

Recently social media reports doing the rounds said that Mr Rajender had leaked the proposed Revenue Act to some employees’ associations. This will pave the way for sacking him from the Cabinet.

Responding to the rumours Mr Rajender had said, “If anybody proves that I have taken Rs 5,000 crore, I’ll quit politics. In my 15 years political journey with the TRS, I am clean.”
