Telangana police lost another top cop to COVID, condolences pour in

Hyderabad: Telangana state police lost another senior officer to COVID. Deputy Superintendent of Police from Mahabubabad district succumbed to the infection. Fifty year old PS Shashidhar, serving in the Armed Reserve (AR wing) of the district, took his last breath while undergoing treatment at Care hospital, Nampally on Monday. While the spread of the virus is unknown.

Shashidhar joined the police force as a Sub-inspector in the Armed Reserve Wing in 1996 and served at the AR headquarters located at Bellampally, now Mancherial district. After being promoted to the Reserve Inspector rank, he served at Karimnagar and Sircilla district. In 2018 he was elevated to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, he was posted to Mahabubabad district AR unit.

Expressing shock at the untimely demise of Shashidhar, Superintendent of police Mahabubabad N Koti Reddy offered condolence to the family members.

Recollecting his association with Shashidhar, Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat took to twitter and said “ PS Sasidhar was my Reserved Sub Inspector of CAR Bellampalli while I was in Adilabad from 2000 to 2004 as Additional SP Bellampalli & Superintendent of Police. He was a sportsman and brought many laurels. Sudden demise of Sasidhar is causing lot of pain. My heartfelt condolences & prayers to give strength to family.Sic” he wrote.

While PS Shashidhar’s case is the first covid casualty among the DSPs and above rank officers working in Telangana, the total number of covid casualties in Telangana police department had already gone beyond 20.
