Telangana ranks seventh, AP 14th in IT collections

Hyderabad: Telangana has become the seventh state in the country to have collected the highest income tax in the current fiscal so far. Neighbouring Andhra Pradesh (AP) ranked 14th in the income tax collections across the country.

Of the Rs nine lakh crore realized as income-tax till February 15, Telangana contributed Rs 37,806 crore which is 4.1 per cent of India’s total collections.

Andhra Pradesh, on the other hand, realized Rs 13,446 crore which is 1.4 per cent of the total amount collected.

During 2016-17 and 2019-20 (till February 15, 2020), the Centre realized Rs 30.39 lakh crore as income-tax. Telangana, the youngest state in the country, contributed 3.98 per cent while AP contributed 1.57 per cent.

Income tax collections in the country have increased by 13.14 per cent in the last three years.

In Telangana, I-T collections increased by 15.16 per cent while AP recorded 11.95 per cent increase.

Maharashtra tops the country in the income tax collections. The state’s share is 34.23 per cent in the total income tax collections. Bihar figured at the bottom of the chart.
