Telangana records highest spike with 199 new COVID-19 cases, five deaths

Hyderabad: Telangana recorded 199 new cases of COVID-19 on May 31, revealed the state’s daily health bulletin. Out of the 199 new cases, three persons are migrants, while the rest of the patients are local, reported from within the state.

With this, the total number of local COVID-19 cases in the state has reached 2,264. On the other hand, the total number of foreign returnees, migrants and deported citizens who have tested positive for the virus have reached 434. Telangana is soon to cross 2,700 COVID cases reported in the state in total. Telangana has earlier witnessed a spike in COVID cases on May 29, with 169 new cases reported on the day.

The state has reported five deaths due to COVID-19 on May 31. However, as opposed to yesterday, the health department has not provided any details on the age of the COVID victims.

Meanwhile, out of the 458 deportees who have been airlifted by the central government, 212 deportees have tested positive, and have been quarantined in various institutional quarantine centres. 192 migrants, a majority of whom have come from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa are COVID-19 positive and undergoing treatment.

GHMC area recorded the most number of cases today among the districts with 122 cases, while Rangareddy district recorded 40 new cases on May 31.
