Coronavirus: Telangana reports new case, total rises to 22

Hyderabad: The total number of coronavirus positive cases in Telangana touched 22 as a 23-year-old man from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh was tested positive on March 22.

The authorities said that the man came from London and arrived in India via Dubai. The statement released by Telangana’s Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, stated that the patient is now stable and is admitted to a designated hospital in Telangana.

The F=first case of local transmission in India was also seen in Telangana. The 35-year-old son of a Dubai-returned man was tested positive on 21 March. It is said that he might have been infected by the virus from his father.

Out of the 22 active cases of COVID-19, 10 are Indonesians nationals, while the rest have a travel history apart from the 35-year-old male patient.

What is worrying about the 10 Indonesian nationals, is that they had spent two days in Karimnagar. The group reportedly traveled from Nizamuddin Railway station in Delhi to Ramagundem via AP Samparkranti train on March 13. They further proceeded to Karimnagar by road.

So as to curb the local transmission of coronavirus cases, the Telangana government has declared a curfew of 24 hrs from March 22, 6 am to March 23, 6 am. Amidst the curfew, the RTC buses have stopped plying.

The Disaster Management team of Hyderabad hassanitized places like Charminar and MJ Market as they are shut in the wake of coronavirus.

Meanwhile death toll in India touched six as a 34-year-old man from Patna died on Saturday Morning, while another person from Mumbai died in the night.
