Telangana woman murdered, dumped under culvert

Hyderabad: Even as the memories of the brutal gang rape and murder of veterinarian Disha at Shamshabad in November 2019 are still fresh, another similar incident was reported at Chevella on 17 March. The naked body of an unidentified woman was dumped under a culvert on Tuesday morning. Her face was smashed beyond recognition.
The police are yet to ascertain if she was sexually assaulted but suspect the woman was strangled and her body dumped at the spot and her face crushed with a boulder. The Shamshabad DCP, N. Prakash Reddy, said that initial inquiries revealed that the woman was murdered. The accused could have killed her at a different location and dumped her body at Chevella. Five special teams have already been formed to trace the victim’s identity and arrest the accused.
On Tuesday morning, passersby noticed the woman’s body under a culvert on the outskirts of Tangedapally village and alerted the police. The cops found the gold ornaments on her body were intact but her face was badly crushed. They suspect the woman was in her late 20s and unmarried.
