The officers were in the process of completing the second phase of their training, practical training. They have been quarantined in the hospital inside the police academy.
According to official sources, more than 120 probationers from the 2018 batch are currently training at the academy. After completing the first phase, i.e. in-house training, they were sent to different parts of the country for practical training during which they were first attached to different police units in various states. Later, they were assigned to police stations to work as station house officers.
All probationers returned to the academy in the first week of June. After conducting thermal screening and other health protocols, they were placed under quarantine for the mandatory period. Before the completion of the quarantine period, samples of all probationers were collected. On Tuesday, the results showed that two of them were COVID-positive.
Officials said the two will be isolated and a team of doctors will monitor their health conditions and treat them accordingly.
