Theft in Mozamjahi branch of Karachi bakery

Hyderabad: The lock down leading to closure of shops has come in handy for a few offenders. In one such instance, unidentified robbers broke into the famous Karachi bakery at Mozamjahi market and looted a huge amount of cash. The incident came to light on Wednesday.

According to sources, the Karachi bakery’s first branch is located at the market junction on the main road and it has been closed ever since the lockdown came into force. On Wednesday, the management of the bakery suspected something suspicious and went to the store to check. They found a forced entry from the rear side of the bakery.

Police were alerted immediately. Police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Clues team along with the dog squad was also called in for any clues.

According to police sources, at least three persons were involved in the offence and the role of an insider has not been ruled out.

Police are trying to retrieve the CCTV footage from the cameras inside the store and are also analysing technical aspects like mobile tower dump, for clues.

Police suspect the robbery to be an insider’s job. They suspect outsiders might have been tipped off as the knowledge of the money stored is unknown to outsiders. Further police are also probing if the gang had done a recce of the place in the recent past. Though the exact amount of the money stolen is yet to be ascertained, police suspect the loss is huge.
