Thief strikes at veggie shop in Hyderabad, flees with onions

Hyderabad: With onions becoming a hot commodity across the country, the staple bulb has become the latest target of thieves. One such incident recently took place in Hyderabad where a man ran away with 20 kg of onions from a store at Chikkadpally.

Eshwari, a resident of Domalguda, runs a vegetable shop at Jyoti Nagar. She usually sells vegetables on a push cart and had covered it with sacks yesterday. However, she found some vegetables, including onions, missing on Friday morning.

After being alerted by Eshwari, the Chilkalguda police inspected the spot. As they scanned the footage from CCTVs installed in the area, they saw a bike stopping at the shop in the wee hours. The biker moved aside the wooden crates, entered the shop and came out after a few minutes with a bag, believed to be onions.

The police asked Eshwari to lodge a formal complaint, but the woman declined.
