Hyderabad: Two persons, including a degree student, died after being hit by a thunderbolt in separate incidents on Wednesday. The victims were identified as Anuradha (19) and M Naresh (19).

On Wednesday evening, Anuradha, hailing from Singotam village in Kollapur Mandal of Nagarkurnool district, was returning home from college, when it started raining heavily. She took shelter under a tree on the roadside. Suddenly, a thunderbolt struck her, and she died on the spot, alongside two cattle that were also standing under the tree.

Another incident was reported from Bodampahad village in Shabad Mandal in Ranga Reddy district. Naresh, C Anjaiah and Mohd Muzafar were working on a farm as daily-wage labourers. During the rain in the evening, a thunderbolt struck them, and Naresh died on the spot. The two others sustained severe injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, and their condition is said to be critical.
