Kurnool: Tension gripped tourists and devotees of Srisailam pilgrimage after a tiger was sighted along the ghat road near Lord Hanuman temple at Chinnarutla in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday night.

A group of pilgrims heading for Srisailam temple in an SUV spotted the big cat. The devotees captured the animal with their mobile phone cameras.

The presence of the tiger brought vehicular traffic on the ghat road to a halt for over 20 minutes. Devotees and tourists heaved a sigh of relief after the striped animal left the place and entered the forest without targeting any vehicle or motorist.

Forest officials reached the spot and asked tourists and pilgrims to be cautious while moving along the ghat road in the view of the tiger movement. They said the Amrabad forest is a tiger reserve and home to wildlife. Meanwhile, the news of the tiger went viral on social media, triggering tension among the tourists and pilgrims going to Srisailam.
