Toddler kidnapped at Chaderghat while sleeping besides mother on footpath

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Task Force police solved the mystery behind the kidnap of a toddler and rescued the kid in less than 24 hours of the incident. The toddler was taken away by the miscreants while he was sleeping with his mother, Rohini, on the footpath at Chaderghat in the city. The accused, Ibrahim, a resident of Talabkatta in the Old City of Hyderabad, had kidnapped the child as he had no children and was looking for a child for himself.

Rohini lost her husband and since then has been living by begging. She, along with her

one-and-half year old son, Shadullah, was living on the footpath at Chaderghat.

On Tuesday night, the mother and son slept on the footpath. When she woke up on Wednesday morning, she could not find her kid and thought he might have woken up and gone to some place nearby. She started searching for him in the vicinity, but could not find him.

After searching till noon, she approached the Chaderghat police and lodged a complaint. A kidnap case has been registered and special teams from the police station and the East Zone Task Force swung into action.

Analysis of footage from the CCTV cameras in the surroundings gave some vital clues to the police.

Based on the clues, the police found a man taking away the child on his bike. Based on the clue, the bike was identified and the biker was traced to his home at Talabkatta. The police nabbed him and the child was rescued from his possession.

He admitted to have kidnapped the child as he had no children and wanted to take care of him, but not with an intention to harm the kid. The child was handed over to his mother and the accused, Ibrahim, was produced before the court.
