Hyderabad: Heavy rains have battered the city in the past few days. Hundreds have lost their homes and livelihood and nearly 50 have lost their lives. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana and predicted very heavy rains in various parts of the state for the next 48 hours.

Amidst this unprecedented crisis, a few actors and politicians have come forward to help rebuild the state. The Telangana government has already released Rs. 550 crore towards flood relief and the Chief Minister has announced Rs. 10,000 each for the flood-hit families.

Actor Chiranjeevi took to Twitter and announced that he is contributing Rs. 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). In his tweet, he spoke about the devastating consequences of nature's fury and urged everyone to do their bit.

Meanwhile, actor Nagarjuna contributed Rs. 50 lakhs towards the CM’s Relief Fund. He lauded the government for stepping in and helping the affected families.

Mahesh Babu has also contributed Rs. 1 crore to the CMRF. “Contributing ₹1 crore towards the CM relief fund of Telangana. I urge all of you to come forward and donate towards the cause. Let's stand by our people during these difficult times. @TelanganaCMO @KTRTRS,” the actor tweeted. He said the destruction was worse than one could ever imagine and lauded the state government and the disaster management force for helping the affected families.

Jr. NTR, too, joined his fellow actors in contributing to the cause. In a tweet, he announced that he was contributing Rs. 50 lakhs to the CMRF and urged everyone to chip in.

Vijay Deverakonda also rose to the occasion and tweeted screenshots of his contribution of Rs. 10 lakhs to the CMRF. “We came together for Kerala. We came together for Chennai. We came together for the Army. We came together in huge numbers for each other during Corona. This time our city and our people need a helping hand,” he tweeted.

Besides the Tollywood actors, some politicians have also made contributions to help the city recover. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that he would contribute Rs. 15 crores to the government of Telangana.
