Tollywood worker arrested for attacking TV5 office

Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police of Hyderabad Commissionerate, on Monday, arrested a man working in Tollywood on charges of attacking TV5 news channel office at Jubilee hills two days ago. The accused, T. Chiranjeevi, was in an inebriated condition when he resorted to the attack.

After attacking the premises and damaging the window panes of the building, Chiranjeevi walked to the Jubilee Hills check post and even regulated traffic for some time, DCP, West Zone, A.R. Srinivas said.

According to the police, on Friday night, an unidentified person pelted stones at the news channel office building and also trespassed on to the premises and broke the window panes of the security room. Though the security staff tried to nab him, he fled the spot. A case has been registered at the Jubilee Hills police station.

Based on the clues and technical evidence, police, on Monday, arrested Chiranjeevi. Inquiries revealed that Chiranjeevi hails from Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh and is the only son to his parents.

He stopped pursuing education after Intermediate and later, entered screen printing business after which he got married and has two children.

On incurring loss in the business, he closed it and migrated to Hyderabad in 2016, along with his family. Since then, they were living at Krishna Nagar area.

In Hyderabad, he learnt welding and joined the film industry as a welder. He works on movie sets. On Friday night, after consuming alcohol at Jubilee Hills, he was walking by the TV5 office on Road No.1 and pelted stones at the office.
