TDP Rajahmundry Rural MLA candidate Butchaiah Chowdary won with a majority of over 50,000 votes. He is the first candidate to win from the TDP. Butchaiah Chowdary defeated YSRCP candidate and Minister Chelluboyina Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna.
Despite the YSRCP wave in the 2019 Assembly elections, Butchaiah Chowdary won as an MLA from the TDP with a majority of 10,404 votes against YSRCP candidate Akula Veerraju.
