Transworld Educare director Dr David K Pillai arrested in GST fraud case

Hyderabad : Sleuths of GST intelligence-Hyderabad unit, on Friday, arrested top academician Dr David K Pillai founder of Transworld Educare (consultant for medical education) in a mammoth tax evasion fraud. The academician has been remanded to judicial custody and is lodged at Chanchalguda jail of Hyderabad.

Transworld Educare with their office registered in Pune, was appointed as a principle consultant in India for Philippines Consortium of Medical colleges and has been grooming student academically. The consultant further entrusted the jobs to private entities across various metros including SG consultants in Hyderabad.

The led blew off when GST sleuths identified evasion in the 3rd party consultant located in Hyderabad, resulting in robust searched. Based on intelligence inputs, the sleuths of Goods and Service Tax intelligence unit searched multiple locations and found that Transworld Educare was collecting close to Rs 10 lakh per student as consultancy fee however evading GST. Investigation also found that the company was paying the required amount to its counter part in Philippines.

GST searches in Hyderabad, Chennai and other metros unearth tax evasion of Rs 10 crore. While it is estimated that fraud may exceed Rs 250 crore.

Transworld Educare was established in 2015 with his office registered in Pune, Maharashtra. The company has two directors , namely Jecintha David Koil Pillai and Kadwin Koil Pillai .

The longest serving directors currently on board are Jecintha David Koil Pillai and Kadwin Koil Pillai They have been on the board for 4 years and 10 months.

Kadwin Koil Pillai has the largest number of other directorships with a seat at a total of 4 companies. In total, the company is connected to 4 other companies through its directors.
