TRS corporators husband arrested for attacking man over land dispute

Hyderabad: A TRS corporator's husband who had allegedly attacked a man over a land dispute was arrested, along with seven others, on 16 July and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

The arrested is following a case registered by Medipally police against TRS corporator Anjali Devi's husband and his henchmen for allegedly attacking a one Purender Reddy over a land dispute.

The victim Purender Reddy’s wife alleged that Sridhar, along with a group of people, came to their house and demanded they give them the original land documents for verification. When Purender refused, one of them attacked him. Later, others barged into the house and attacked the man. They also abused his wife. When they noticed that Purender’s son was filming the incident on his phone, one of them threatened him and snatched away the mobile phone.

The victim, Ananthula Bhanodaya Purendra Reddy, is a resident of Dwaraka Nagar. Both he and Sreeramulu Goud, an accused in the case, claim rights over a plot of land. On 10 July, corporator Anjali Devi’s husband, Sridhar Goud, and a few others had visited Purendra's house and demanded that he give them the original land documents for verification.

When Purendra refused, the group abused and misbehaved with his wife Ananthula Bhanodaya. When Purendra went to rescue her, the men attacked him with sticks. The man was shifted to Aditya Hospital in Uppal.

Meanwhile, the corporator, Anjali Devi, had lodged a complaint against Purendra on Tuesday alleging that he had attacked her husband when he went to his house to discuss the land issue.
