TRS top funders: Minister Ch Malla Reddy donated 1 Cr, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy 50 lakhs

Hyderabad: Around 50 per cent of top donors (above Rs 20,000) of the TRS party are politicians and infra companies, unlike BJP, for whom ordinary people are the major contributors.

In 2018-19, TRS Labour minister Ch Malla Reddy and the owner of Malla Reddy engineering colleges , donated Rs 1 crore, while the then TRS MP konda vishweshwar reddy, before his exit, funded Rs 50 lakhs as party fund . Another politician and educationalist TRS MLC Kasireddy Narayana Reddy donated Rs 25 lakh.There the three politicians to fund the party.

In the previous financial year, Minister T Harish Rao, then TS Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, and even the then TS RTC Chairman Somarapu Satyanarayana were among the major donors.

Besides individuals, many companies turned funders for the ruling party. Raghava constructions and Sri Venkateshwara Enterprises funded the pink party Rs 2 crore each, while Aero space technology gave Rs 1 crore. The number of funders from the state will be higher if the sum below Rs 20,000 is taken into consideration. Besides, some of the companies and individuals who have contributed in lakhs have chosen to conceal their identity.

In total, the TRS received a whopping Rs 182.77 crore as party’s contribution in the financial year 2018-19, a jump by Rs 179 crore. Electoral bonds raised in Hyderabad turned out to be the pink party’s highest donor with Rs 141.50 crore. Interestingly, 75% of the contributions came from back-door funders in the form of electoral bonds.

While India’s richest electoral trust ‘Prudent’ donated Rs 27 crore to YSRCP and Rs 25 crore to TDP, they only contributed Rs 16 crore to TRS in the same financial year. However, Prudent remains the ruling party’s second-biggest donation from a single entity.
