Hyderabad: All the degree colleges in Telangana will now have two new courses of B. Sc Data Science & B.Com Data Analytics as the Telangana State Higher Education Council (TSCHE) has begun preparations for the same by constituting a committee to go into the logistics.
In a meeting held at TSCHE office on Monday, Chairman Tummala Papi Reddy and others discussed about the courses that are in demand along with the courses that have been introduced in other States. The committee resolved to offer courses that had better employment opportunities.
The new courses will be introduced in the ensuing academic year 2020-21. Earlier, a student could study Mathematics, statistics & computer science whereas now they will get to study data science besides computer science.
A talk is on regarding introducing Honours courses, which will have 20-30 credits compared to the regular courses. Apart from this, if the colleges show interest, courses like BSc Machine Learning, Block chain technology and Artificial Intelligence can also be primarily introduced.
The council also decided to first introduce these courses in autonomous colleges, social welfare gurukuls and government colleges.
The council also decided to give permission to all the top private colleges that follow quality standards and implement such courses. The council also called for training to faculties on the proposed courses.
Vice-Chairmen of TSCHE, R Limbadri, Venkataramana, Former OU VC S Ramachandram, Professors Fatima Begum, Jayashree, OU Registrar Gopal Reddy, IIIT Professor Krishna Reddy and representatives from TCS and Cognizant participated in the meeting.
