Hyderabad, August 16th : The Telangana State Education Department, on Sunday, announced that online classes for intermediate students in the state will be postponed due to heavy rains. The online classes were scheduled to start on 17 August.

Speaking to NewsMeter, the Commissioner of Intermediate Education, Syed Omar Jaleel, said, “Most of our ministers are engaged in managing the damage caused by the rains. Also, students may be unable to attend classes due to the rainfall and there will obviously be connectivity issues.”

He added that this is only a short interruption and the classes will begin soon. “The classes will resume within seven days,” he added.

An official release from the state education department read, “The inauguration of digital classes for intermediate students by education minister Sabitha Indira Reddy is postponed because of continuous heavy rain in the state.”

Officials at the Telangana state education department had last week proposed conducting online classes for intermediate students through Doordarshan (DD) Yadagiri and T-SAT telecasts.

It has been reported that the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education has worked during the lockdown to convert all courses into e-content. The content will air through DD-Yadagiri and T-SAT till February, in two sessions of 3-hour classes every day.
