TV actress Sravani’s death: RX 100 producer surrenders to Hyderabad police

Hyderabad: Tollywood movie RX 100 producer Ashok Reddy, accused in the suicide of television actress Sravani, has surrendered before the police on Wednesday morning. Ashok Reddy was one of three accused in the abetment to suicide case of Sravani.

Two other accused- Sravani’s boyfriend Ambati Devaraja Reddy, also a television actor and M. Saikrishna Reddy, a realtor in the city, had been arrested on Monday. Police officials said Ashok Reddy’s statement would be recorded and after completing the formalities, he would be produced before the court. Police have already collected evidence to prove Ashok Reddy’s role in harassing Sravani.

According to sources, Ashok Reddy who had been absconding since Sravani’s suicide on September 8 night, had surrendered before the police after a high drama. All attempts of police to reach out to Ashok Reddy since the suicide went in vain.

Police had already served notices on him in connection with the case, but there was no response. After being on the run for around 10 days, he finally appeared at the Punjagutta ACP’s office and surrendered. He was reportedly accompanied by his advocate, but police did not confirm about the presence of an advocate with Ashok Reddy.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, while addressing the media on Monday, said that after breaking up with Devaraja Reddy in 2018, Sravani got an opportunity to act in a movie “ Prematho Karthi” produced by Ashok Reddy and acted in the movie.

During this time, Ashok Reddy developed a physical relationship with Sravani and he even supported her and her family financially. Inquiries revealed that he had trapped Sravani under the pretext of helping her getting roles in movies and developed a physical relationship with her.

However, while maintaining a relationship with him, Sravani’s attempts to marry Devaraja Reddy did not go well with Ashok Reddy. On September 8, when Sravani and Devaraja Reddy had stepped out of a restaurant at Somajiguda Circle, Sai Krishna Reddy came there and attacked Devaraja Reddy but Sravani tried to intervene due to which Sai Krishna Reddy slapped her and forcefully took her to her home in an auto rickshaw.

After reaching home, Ashok Reddy who was already there, along with her parents, and Sai Krishna Reddy, harassed her. Due to this, Sravani called up Devaraja Reddy and informed that unable to bear harassment from the duo and her parents, she was ending her life.
