Two arrested for attacking police constable in Chandrayangutta

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police, on 8 April, arrested two people who had allegedly attacked a police constable at Chandrayangutta on Saturday. The two are Shaik Mohammed Ameeruddin, 22, a bike mechanic, and his friend Shaik Saif Moinuddin, 24.

On Saturday, constable P. Praveen Kumar was on duty at a money distribution centre. He had instructed Ameeruddin to maintain social distancing while collecting money that was being distributed as part of Corona virus relief initiative. Ameeruddin, however, had felt insulted and held a grudge against him.

According to the police, on Saturday, Ameeruddin, along with his family, had come to collect the money near the SBI service point at Chandrayangutta. As there was a huge crowd, the constable who was posted on bandobast duty had instructed people to maintain social distancing and also follow precautions while collecting the money. Mr Praveen was loud and the accused felt insulted. Ameeruddin returned home after collecting the money and later told his friend Saif about the incident. They decided to attack the cop.

The duo returned to the money distribution center a few hours later and attacked Mr Praveen Kumar with an iron rod on the head and ran away. The constable was immediately rushed to the hospital. The task force team nabbed the duo on Wednesday. A case has been registered against the two. Meanwhile, Mr Praveen is still recovering at the hospital.
