Two children drown in a lake in Sangareddy district

Sangareddy: In a tragic incident, two children accidentally drowned in a lake in Sangareddy district on Monday. The children — Haricharan (11) and Bablu Rathod (9) — were playing in the waters at the time of the incident.
The children, belonging to different parts of the district, came to their relatives’ home at Ramayampet in the district. They were supposed to return to their homes on Saturday, but since Dussehra vacation was extended, they stayed back for a few more days.
On Monday morning, they set out to the lake to play. After a couple of hours, villagers noticed their footwear and clothes at the bank. They found the children’s bodies floating in the waters. They immediately pulled the bodies out and alerted their relatives. It is suspected that the boys drowned in the lake as they did not know how to swim. Additionally, due to the recent rains, the lake was filled to the brim. Police registered a case and started a probe into the incident.
