Two more Coronavirus cases reported in Andhra: Total cases touch 13

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported two new Coronavirus cases on 27 March, taking the total number of patients in the state to 13. The two patients are from Vizag and Guntur. The virus was locally transmitted, officials said.

Officials of the health and family welfare department said the patient from Vizag city (p-12) was the primary contact of another patient (p-7) who recently returned from Birmingham, England. On 17 March, p-12 came in contact with p-7 and was admitted to hospital on 21 March. He tested positive on 27 March.

Vizag city now has four Corona virus cases, the highest in the state, followed by three in Vijayawada.

In another case in Guntur, a woman came in contact with a Corona virus patient (p-10) who had visited Delhi to attend a religious meeting. She came into contact with p-10 on 19 March. She was admitted to the hospital on 23 March and has been kept in isolation since then.

Guntur, Ongole, Nellore, Srikalhasti in Chittoor, and Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari recorded one positive case each. Meanwhile, health officials and police are busy tracking down people who may have come in contact with the Corona virus patient from Guntur.

As many as 406 samples were tested, of which 13 were positive and 368 negative. The results of the remaining 25 are pending.
