Two Prakasam Engineering students feared drowned in River Ganga

Vijayawada: Two engineering students from Prakasam district, who had gone for a dip in the holy river Ganga in Bihar, are feared drowned on Saturday.

They have been identified as Venkata Sai Kiran, a native of Addanki town and Phanindra from Darsi town. Both were first-year engineering students at IIIT- Bhagalpur.

The police said that five engineering students had gone for a bath in the river on Saturday. While they were enjoying in the waters, they reached the deep side and two of them drowned in the waters while three others managed to swim to safety. Though the locals tried to rescue the two students, their efforts proved futile.

Based on information from locals, the police reached the spot. A team of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) launched a search operation to trace the missing students but could not make headway.

Meanwhile, family members of the two students are anxiously waiting for the safe return of their children. However, Bihar police suspect that the two might be drowned to death.
