Unable to bear sexual harassment, 14 YO student ends life in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl ended her life after she was allegedly sexually harassed by her neighbour at Chilkalguda in Secunderabad on Sunday.
The 14-year-old victim, a student of a local high school, hanged herself at her home on Sunday. Chilkalguda police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against her neighbour K Narsing.
Chilkalguda police said that the victim’s family was residing at Hamaali Basthi. The accused, who is a car driver by profession and father of two children, was a close door neighbour of the victim.
For the past few months, Narsing was allegedly stalking the girl. He had been continuously harassing the victim. Police found that he had even promised to abandon his wife and children to marry the girl.
Unable to bear the torture, the victim informed her parents. However, they refused to lodge a police complaint fearing social stigma.
Later her parents warned the accused, but to no avail. This resulted in an altercation between the accused and the victim’s family. On Sunday, the girl hanged herself at their home.
Based on a complaint from parents, police registered a case and started the investigation.
