Uncle, grandfather rape 17 year old orphan in Chandrayanagutta, booked

Hyderabad: Shock and anger has swept across Hyderabad after a 17 year old orphan was allegedly raped by her maternal uncle and grandfather at Chandrayanagutta.

Police have registered a case of rape and arrested her uncle and grandfather. The duo was also produced before the court on Monday. The victim was later sent for medical examination and is being counseled at Bharosa Center for Woman, Hyderabad.

Sources said the duo raped her on several occasions in the past two years. The girl finally mustered courage and approached the police to narrate her tale of woes.

According to police, the girl was the only daughter of her parents, who were residing at Bandlaguda. Around 10 years ago, her father passed away, after which she along with her mother moved to her grandparents’ home at Mohammad Nagar.

Months later, her mother remarried and stayed with her second husband while leaving her daughter at her maternal home. Later the girl’s uncle, who works as a daily wage labourer, started sexually assaulting her frequently.

Six months ago, her grandfather too started sexually assaulting her. Both her uncle and grandfather threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone.

Unable to bear this torture, the girl informed her mother a few days ago and they finally approached Chandrayanagutta police.
