Union Ministry of Tourism started adventure trekking training course for youth in Ladakh

In a first-of-its-kind venture, the Union Ministry of Tourism started an adventure trekking training course for local youth in Ladakh on Monday. The course will promote tourism activities and develop necessary trekking skills among the youth.

The 10-day features various aspects of mountain trekking and gives participants hands-on experience. Over 30 local youth enrolled in the first batch which started on September 24. Approximately 90 youngsters will be trained in three batches in association with Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management (IITTM), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Tourism. The training programmes will be completed by October 12.

The programme starts with a brief, and the participants cover places like Spithuk, Zinchen, Rumbak, Stok la Base, and Stock in 10 days and then return to Leh. This training is aimed at developing basic trekking skills in youth, which can be later used to become guides or entrepreneurs.
