Hyderabad: An employee of the University of Hyderabad was found brutally murdered near Himayat Sagar lake on the outskirts of the city late on Saturday. Police identified the victim as Satyanarayana, working as a section officer in the university.
Though the motive behind the murder is not known, the police suspect a drunken brawl could have led to the murder. They suspect more than one person involved in the crime. Rajendranagar police, under whose jurisdiction the place of crime falls, registered a case and began investigation.
According to the police, Satyanarayana has been living at Hydershakote with his family and working in the university for more than a decade. He was addicted to alcohol. On Saturday morning, he left home but did not return by evening.
Late in the evening, a water works department employee noticed some vehicles moving in the lake FTL area and went to enquire. Knowing that they were hired for government work, he began moving out of the place when he noticed a person lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police. Police rushed to the spot and found the person dead.
Based on the documents with him, they ascertained his identity and informed his family members. His body was shifted for post-mortem. Police said that the killers attacked Satyanarayana with boulders on the face, resulting in instantaneous death. Special teams have been deputed to nab the accused.
