UoH psychologists to counsel coronavirus victims

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad has now decided that it will provide emotional support to coronavirus victims via tele-counselling.

For providing this UoH faculty members will become a part of Support for Emotional Rehabilitation of the Virus Victims (SERV) a program under Association of Health Psychologists (AHP) which is offering counseling to needy all over India.

As of now there are 130 volunteers trained by the core team of AHP association, who are working under the SERV initiative. An organization Action aid Dr. Reddy Foundation-School Improvement Programme and APTS Social Service Forum is also supporting AHP in its initiative.

The training modules for volunteers have been developed by AHP as a team along with a few faculty members from the Centre for Health Psychology at UoH.

Counsellors with highest academic background in Psychology and having years of experience counseling have joined hands together in providing 24 X 7 hours to support for coronavirus victims.

Similarly in Narayanpet district of Telangana a project ‘T-Consult’ has been launched. Under this the doctors can be contacted through video calling for minor diseases. The doctors will provide prescription online which can be printed. The project was launched in association with Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) by the Narayanpet District collectorate.
