UP couple escape Vikarabad quarantine facility, held at Kazipet

Warangal: Panic gripped the passengers on board a B3 coach of Hazrat Nizamuddin bound Rajdhani Express when they realized they have been traveling with a couple who had returned from Indonesia.

The TC of the train confronted the couple after noticing quarantine stamps on their hands. Later the couple confessed of having landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from Bali on Friday night.

After undergoing thermal screening at the airport, they were admitted to the quarantine center at Vikarabad. They were advised to remain in isolation till April 5. However, the couple somehow escaped from the facility and boarded the train at Secunderabad on Saturday morning.

The TC immediately alerted the medical department officials who suggested to shift them to MGM hospital at Warangal. Subsequently, the medical authorities in Warangal were also alerted. An ambulance and a medical team were kept ready at Kazipet.

As soon as the couple alighted at the station, they were asked to wear hazmat suits covering their entire body and shifted to MGM hospital.

Superintendent of the hospital Dr. B Srinivas Rao said the couple underwent preliminary tests before they were taken to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for isolation.

All the passengers traveling along with the couple in coach B3 were accommodated in other coaches. Later B3 was thoroughly sanitized.
