Vijayawada: A video of the deputy commissioner of police Harshvardhan, beating a medical student has gone viral.
On Wednesday, medical students were protesting in front of the NTR Health University against the National Medical Council Bill. While protesting they entered on to the national highway, which passes through the university. The police who were present there, began pushing the students back and warned them to leave, as traffic was being affected. The students continued protesting, resulting in the police then beating them.
Police sources said, “The medical students did not take prior permission to conduct the protest.”
The students are demanding departmental action against the commissioner of police Harshvardhan.
Meanwhile, members of the medical association have cautioned that they will hold a state-wide protest against the behaviour of the police.
