Vijayawada: The Vijayawada city police, on Saturday, arrested the prime accused Konduru Manikanta alias Pandu (24) in the sensational group clash-and-murder that took place at Patamata area in Vijayawada city on May 30. With the arrest of Pandu,
34 persons of both the groups have been arrested in the case so far.
The police said that they have recovered two knives and one blade from Pandu.
The police said Koduru Manikanta alias Pandu and his rival Thota Sandeep attacked each other in Thotavari Veedhi, Patamata, with lethal weapons which turned the atmosphere tense.
Sandeep, who suffered critical injuries in the attack, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital few hours after the attack. The police said Pandu and others suffered injuries in the clash and were released from the hospital after treatment.
Vijayawada city police chief Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said they would not spare anyone who tried to disturb law and order with illegal activities and gang wars. We will open rowdy-sheet against all the accused in the group clash, he added.
The police officer also appealed to the rowdy-sheeters in Vijayawada to stop the illegal activities and lead a peaceful life. If anyone is found indulged in rowdyism, we will initiate severe action against them, he added.
