Identified as Vikram Kumar Lokah, he was the caretaker of gold at Sai Charan Jewelers in the One Town area. Police recovered the valuables worth Rs four crore.

Vikram Kumar had tied his hands and legs and also injured himself with a blade in an attempt to hoodwink the police and create an impression that some burglaries stormed the shop and decamped with jewellery and cash.

The shop owner, who noticed the theft, complained to the police on Friday morning.

“Our investigation had revealed that Vikram Kumar packed the gold, silver, and cash in two bags. He also removed the CCTV camera and others to hide his identity. At present, Vikram Kumar is the only accused in the case. The investigation is on to establish his links with others,” police said.
