Vizag airport echoes with chants of Chandrababu Naidu Go back Go back

Hyderabad: The Visakhapatnam airport saw a huge number of TDP supporters who had gathered to welcome their leader and TDP President, Chandrababu Naidu. However, members from the ruling YSRCP party were also present to protest against his visit. Chants of "Chandrababu Naidu Go back Go back" were echoed loud.

It was Chandrababu Naidu's first visit to the coastal city after it was declared as the Executive Capital of Andhra Pradesh by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, last month.

Naidu's supporters gathered in huge numbers with the party flags and banners to welcome their leader. During the same, YSRCP workers also had black flags and posters of Naidu's face crossed in black color. There was also a clash between the party workers and police as they lied down in front of the car and obstructed the car to move forward. Even ladies were seen lying near the airport.

Inspite of the police's efforts to stop the crowd, they were seen coming forward with placards against Chandrababu Naidu. Slogans of "Jai Jagan" were also heard outside the airport. Worlrrd then tried obstructing the way by sitting in front of the car.

Amidst this, the police have denied permission to Naidu for his rally from the airport to Pendurthy. Chandrababu Naidu however has no plans of backing down as he is going ahead with his 2-day visit to the North-Andhra region. He will stop by Pendurthy to meet people whose lands have been acquired as a part of the housing scheme for the poor by the government.

I never prevented Jagan and his father from carrying out Padayatra: Naidu

Venting out his anger and frustration after his convoy was held up by YSRCP protestors at Vizag airport, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu said he had never prevented Jagan Mohan Reddy and his father from carrying out Padayatra.

Before being detained at the Vizag airport, he told the media, “Our party leaders took permission from the police and other agencies to visit Vizag and Vizianagaram and why am I then not being allowed to go out of the airport? The ruling party got people from Pulivendula and Vijayawada to create tension here. They tried to hurl chappals, eggs and water bottles at me,’’ condemning the high handedness of the police.

“I have been telling Vizag is a peaceful city and hence should not be made Executive Capital as the city carries its own potential to grow,” said Naidu.
