Vizag gas leak: Villagers stage peaceful sit-in, demand shifting of LG Polymers

Visakhapatnam: People of five villages staged a peaceful dharna outside their homes demanding relocation of LG Polymers and arrest of top management for styrene gas leak that claimed 12 lives on May 7.

Carrying placards, the residents of five villages located near the factory also demanded a lifetime health card and mini super specialty hospital.

It may be recalled that Styrene vapor leakage from LG Polymers claimed 12 lives and over 500 people were hospitalized on May 7.

Shouting slogans against LG Polymers, the villagers were demanding to withdraw cases against the local youth and CPM workers.

City secretary of CPM Dr. B Ganga Rao said it was unfortunate that the state government failed to arrest a single person of LG Polymers in three weeks.

He said the company managers have been campaigning that the Visakhapatnam people were happy overthe steps taken to mitigate their problems.

He thanked the people for staging a protest to put pressure on the government
